Meet our expert speaker – Emily Largent, JD, PhD, RN

Emily Largent, JD, PhD, RN, is the Emanuel and Robert Hart Associate Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy, Chief of the Division of Medical Ethics at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, with additional affiliations across Penn Law and the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics. Her research focuses on the ethical and regulatory dimensions of human subjects research and the social, legal, and ethical issues that arise as research findings move into clinical care, with particular emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Supported by grants from the National Institute on Aging, Dr. Largent is a Greenwall Faculty Scholar (Class of 2023), recipient of the 2023 Baruch A. Brody Award in Bioethics, and an elected fellow of the Hastings Center. Her work appears in leading journals including The Hastings Center Report, American Journal of Bioethics, NEJM, and JAMA, and she co-authored Clinical Research Ethics Consultation: A Casebook (Oxford University Press). She holds degrees from Georgetown University, Penn Nursing, Harvard’s PhD program in Health Policy (ethics concentration), and Harvard Law School, and previously served as a fellow in the NIH Department of Bioethics and clerked for Chief Judge Jeffrey

Certification Program

The MPN Pathways: Empowered Voices in Research Certification Program, made up of 9 expert-led webinar sessions, will be presented live every quarter through 2026. Participants will receive a certification upon completing the steps below, recognizing their commitment and expertise in MPN research advocacy: 

  1. WATCH – Participants must view all 9 webinars in the series to complete the program.
  2. EVALUATE – Participants will also be required to complete an online evaluation of each webinar after they attend the session live or view the recording which will be made available within the Webinar Library.
  3. CERTIFIED – Participants that complete all 9 webinar evaluations will receive an MPN Pathways: Empowered Voices in Research certificate via email that they can print and proudly display!


Evaluations can be accessed via email after each live session or on MPN Research Foundation’s website. Upon completing all 9 sessions and evaluations, participants will receive an MPN Pathways: Empowered Voices in Research certificate via email to print and display proudly!

Important Note: If you cannot attend the live webinars, don’t worry! All sessions will be recorded and made available to you.
